Invisalign

Invisalign is the virtually invisible way to straighten your teeth without braces, using a series of clear, removable aligners. You wear each set of clear aligners for about two weeks, taking them out only when you eat, drink, brush, and floss. When you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move - little by little, week by week - until they have reached to the final position your orthodontist or dentist has prescribed. You'll visit your orthodontist or dentist about once every six weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned.

Total treatment time averages 9-15 months and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but both will vary from case to case.

How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign-trained dentists use 3D computer imaging technology to demonstrate the complete treatment plan from the initial position to the final desired position. The imaging technology is then used to design an individual series of custom-made aligners. The patient wears the aligner for about two weeks while the teeth move incrementally. After two weeks, the current aligner is replaced with the next one until the final position is achieved.

What do aligners look like?
Aligners are clear and nearly invisible. If you've ever seen clear tooth-whitening trays, that should give you a good idea of what the aligners look like. Invisalign aligners are custom-made to fit and move your teeth.

Will the treatment be painful?
Each time you change to a new aligner, there may be some slight discomfort while your teeth adjust to their new position. This is normal, and a good sign that the treatment is working.

Can wearing Invisalign aligners affect my speech?
Some people are affected more than others, but most adjust in a short period of time to the feeling of the aligners and do not have permanent changes in their speech.

How often do I have to wear my aligners?
Invisalign only works while you're wearing the aligners. It's recommended that you wear your aligners full-time, day and night, except to eat, brush, and floss your teeth.

How much does Invisalign cost?
Cost is always a concern, and only your doctor can determine the price of treatment. It is typically in the same range as ordinary metal braces, ranging from $3,000 to $5,000 or more, depending on the requirements of your case.

Does Invisalign really work?
Yes. In orthodontic and dental practices nationwide, Invisalign has been proven effective at straightening teeth.

Does insurance cover Invisalign?
Any insurance plan that covers orthodontics should cover Invisalign.

Invisalign invisibly straightens your teeth with a series of custom-molded aligners

Forget everything you've heard about teeth straightening. Because now there's breakthrough technology that lets you get the smile you always wanted without bands, brackets, or wires.

A clear alternative
By using a series of clear removable aligners, Invisalign straightens your teeth right before your eyes. Change them about every two weeks, and your teeth will move -- little by little, week by week -- until they have moved to the final position your orthodontist or dentist has prescribed. Comfortable to wear, our aligners are also removable so you can eat, drink, brush, and floss as usual.

Less treatment time
A typical Invisalign case takes about a year from start to finish. You'll see your doctor every month or two to see how you're progressing. Every few visits, you'll be given additional aligners to continue your treatment. Commonly, the number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but treatment time and the number of aligners will vary from case to case.

Invisible. And comfortable
Invisalign is a virtually invisible solution. So you won't draw undue attention to your mouth while in treatment. In fact, virtually no one will know you're wearing them unless you tell. Comfortable to wear, our aligners are also removable so you can eat, drink, brush, and floss as usual.

Is Invisalign for me?
Invisalign can be used to treat the vast majority of common problems for adults and teens. Whether your smile needs minor improvements or more extensive adjustments, Invisalign can certainly help. It's successful in treating overly crowded or widely spaced teeth. It can also relieve more complex issues, including overbites, underbites and even crossbites. In fact, an Invisalign Certified Orthodontist or Dentist can use Invisalign clear aligners in all or part of just about any treatment plan.

Look your best during treatment
Invisalign is clear and practically invisible, so nothing gets in the way of your new smile. No wonder Invisalign is the choice of over half a million people.

  • Unobtrusive in business meetings or social gatherings
  • No metal wires or bands to irritate your mouth
  • Most people won't notice you're wearing aligners

Zoom Whitening

Often, people with stained or discolored teeth may just need a whitening procedure in order to restore their smile.

People with stained or dull teeth usually benefit from whitening, which is a safe and effective way to brighten stained, discolored or dull teeth. Even a stubborn single tooth that is noticeably duller or less white than your other teeth can be individually brightened.

Teeth bleaching products, which contain peroxides, actually change your natural tooth color anywhere from five to seven -- but even up to twelve -- shades brighter.

With over 15,000 installations, Zoom! is the dominant world's leader in Chairside Whitening Systems. In 2004, the Zoom! System was recognized as Reality's #1 rated in-office whitening system, awarded Dental Advisor's 5 Plus rating and winner of Dental Town's Townie Award for both best in-office system and best Whitening Lamp.

"When you've got a product as great as Zoom!, you really have to work hard to take the technology to the next level of clinical performance. Zoom Advanced Power does just that. The all-new lamp is built for speed and completes treatment in just three 15-minute sessions. We've also streamlined the design, so it's even easier to use," said Dr. William Dorfman, founder of Discus Dental, Inc.

Zoom Advanced Power raises the bar to a new level of performance while delivering an average of eight shades, and sometimes as many as twelve, in less than an hour. The new Zoom Advanced Power system is:
Faster - Achieve superior results in three 15-minute sessions. The new system reduces chair-time by 33% with no compromise in results.
More Effective - The proprietary light activated Zoom gel incorporates patented Amorphous Calcium Phosphate1 (ACP) technology to provide superior whitening results.
Easier - The new Precision Light Guide System ensures quick and consistent patient set-up for optimal whitening results, while the new locking casters and ergonomically designed structure make moving and positioning Zoom2 a snap.
Lower Sensitivity - Reduced contact time, ACP chemistry, combined with the new Balancing Agent and Satin Finish, to ensure the lowest possible discomfort for patients. I

"Ten years ago, I dreamed of a system that could instantly whiten my patients' teeth. Zoom Advanced Whitening makes that dream a reality. I truly believe the Zoom experience will be the best 45 minutes your patients ever spend in your practice," said Dr. William Dorfman. "Instant gratification just got a lot more gratifying - for you and your patients!"

One process known as chairside bleaching involves applying either a protective gel to your gums or a rubber shield to protect the soft tissues in the mouth. A bleaching agent is then applied to the teeth, and a special light is used to enhance the chemical action.

If your teeth aren't very dark or very stained, you may need only one bleaching session. Tooth bleaching safely lightens the color of your teeth, and can last up to a year before a touch-up is needed.

In general, bleaching works for most people. Tooth bleaching is most effective if your teeth are darkened from age, coffee, tea or smoking. Teeth darkened with the color of yellow, brown or orange respond better to lightening. Other types of gray stains caused by fluorosis, smoking or tetracycline can be lightened, but with less-than-satisfactory results.

If you're interested in brightening your smile, have your teeth evaluated by us. Not everyone is a good candidate for bleaching. In some cases of serious discoloration and pitted teeth, for example, veneers may be more appropriate than bleaching. Moreoever, crowns, bridges, and fillings do not bleach, so it may be necessary to replace dental work to make it blend with the new color of your bleached teeth. An X-ray of your teeth may be the only accurate way of making a true assessment.

Veneers

In just two or three dental visits, a veneer can reverse years of stains caused by foods, caffeine and tobacco use.

Special thin laminates, called veneers, can often be used to correct discolored, worn down, cracked and chipped teeth. Veneers can also be used to close unsightly gaps between teeth. Stronger types of veneers made of porcelain, also called composite veneers, typically last longer because they are bonded to the tooth.

An impression of the tooth must be made and a veneer molded by a lab technician. Because veneers require a small amount of enamel to be removed, they are permanent and non-reversible.

The process involves buffing the tooth, removing an extremely thin layer of the tooth to allow for the thickness of the veneer, an impression of the tooth, and final bonding of the veneer to the tooth with special cement. A special light is used to complete the process.
